Miles must be Jr’s good luck charm, because he is in the lead right now.

Christy and I went out in Addison on Friday night. It was a different kind of playdate, and it was FUN.

So my friend Allie said today that she thinks that Miles looks exactly like Lydia did. I guess it’s all relative, but I’ll let you guys be the judge.

We went to the gym this morning and then took naps. Then Gray, Christy and Parker came over. Lydia and Gray got to play both inside and outside, and had a lot of fun. We were trying to figure out who is bigger, Parker or Miles. We didn’t come to any firm conclusion, except that maybe Park just has a bigger head (Miles has a really small head). Regardless, they sure are cute!

Look at my big boy! I hope I can keep him in the infant carseat for another 2 months, but I’m not so sure that will be the case…

I just got this email about my friend Jessie’s mom, she has been through 3 treatments of chemo:

“We had our first test today at the hospital and we wanted to let you all know the good news that … Across the board, Sue has shown great improvement… with her right lung looking clear and the left lung mass shrinking considerably. The liver had the same type of progression with showing marked regression overall. The biggest gain though was on the uterine mass, where it looks like the growth has shrunk by about half the original size or more!! We all went out to a celebratory dinner tonight and can have the first good nights sleep in a long time. Sue is not out of the woods yet, but she is very excited about going to see her ‘best friend’ Chemo on Thursday and keep going in the right direction.”

Keep praying for the Hoying family, this is amazing news!

I just lost my posting. DARN IT! Here goes my second try.

Dad was working in Dallas yesterday, so he came for dinner last night. Lydia got very excited about the prospect of riding a tractor with him to cut the grass this summer. She didn’t want to go to bed because she wanted to cut the grass. She has talked about it several times today too…

Lydia has been calling a horn a “corn” – so the “corn on the bus goes beep beep beep”…

We went to the Y this morning and she wore her hat. Wouldn’t take it off.

We had some severe storms this afternoon, and Lydia saw a picture of a truck driving through a flooded street and said, “the truck is swimming”. She is so funny and full of interesting observations these days.

Because of the rain, we’re a little bored. Here are some of our fun pictures….

Boo for the weekend being over

Hm…. our weekend. Friday, Lydia went to school and I tried to get stuff done around the house, but as usual, less got done than I would have hoped. Robert did something with work for Earth Day (he’s really more purple than red these days…), and ended up coming home early to do a little work here that afternoon. It was so nice to have him home early, and the weather was great. So we spent a little time outside that evening. Lydia and I ran out to Walmart and bought some upscale trailer park patio furniture. No, seriously, it doesn’t look that bad. And if you saw what we had before that (two rotting collapsible chairs from Big Lots, one bright orange and one teal), you would say we’re moving up in the world.

Saturday, we packed sandwiches and took the kids to the park to eat lunch and play. We had intended on sitting in the large covered picnic area, but there was some sort of worship service going on. We couldn’t quite figure out what religion they were practicing because there was a strange statute in the front, and they were speaking in a different language. I think I heard them say Amen at one point, though. Whatever it was, there was nice singing. Lydia found a little girl to play with, and they were pretty cute together. I don’t know if her daddy liked her fraternizing with a little white girl, though, he told her to go play somewhere else… that was weird. Lydia played at home after her nap, and got the obligatory Saturday night bath with full hair washing. And then went to bed.

This morning we got up and went to church for the first time in a loooooong long time – and were late, as usual. It was wonderful to see everyone. We have really missed our church friends. We went to the church service for the first time since the explosive incident with Miles a few months ago. All of the Sunday School friends sat together, we finally got to see Jack Melson for the first time – he is SO cute. Miles did pretty well. Lydia hung out with her friends in the nursery. She likes it a lot better in there. Today was the introduction of the new red hymnals at our church. Blechhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. You Lutherans know how it is…

Obviously there is a lot of nothing going on. Lydia is talking up a storm, and gets reaaaaallly chatty about 5:00. She stops thinking about what she’s saying and starts repeating everything that you say. Over. And Over. And Over. And Over again. She is very sweet though. Today she pointed to her head and said what sounded like “my brain”, but I think she was saying “my bangs”. Either way, it was an obscure word.

Miles is growing like one of the *very healthy* weeds in our back yard. He seems to have very good motor skills… and I’m not just saying that. He has really good head control and can look up at the TV when he’s laying on the floor. I swear he will be rolling over within a few weeks – he is getting about halfway over from his back. He tries to roll over everywhere. He’s also trying to creep forward – as soon as he figures out how to dig his little toes into the ground he’s going to be motivating forward. It’s really bizarre. Robert walked at a bizarrely early age, like 7 months, so maybe Miles takes after him. He has a touch of diarrhea today, so we have had 3 explosions this evening. Hopefully he’ll sleep well and feel better tomorrow. He has been pretty grumbly all weekend. We thought it was because I had eaten a bunch of white chocolate on Friday, but now I’m not so sure. I think it probably contributed to the problem though.

No pictures today, maybe tomorrow if you behave…
