We’re having a blast with Emkat. Lydia has loved having a buddy to hang out and be silly with for the last couple of days. She went to school today and Em, Miles and I got out and ran a few errands. This afternoon, Christy, Gray and Parker are coming over for a playdate.
Yesterday we went to the park and someone was having a Backyardigans birthday party. The party was over when we got there, but someone left behind a “yahoo” birthday hat. So Lydia snagged it and brought it home.

I haven’t been good about blogging lately. i sure did talk on the phone a lot though. I go through weeks where I call EVERYONE. I am thankful for our long distance plan. It comes in handy when I start to miss everyone.
Lydia went to school this week and had a great time. I got to go to lunch twice, on Wednesdsay with Kerri (from church) and on Friday with Sarah (from church). It was great to spend time with friends. We also got to see Christy, Gray and Parker on Tuesday, it has been like 3 weeks since we’ve gotten together with them, so we were wayyyyy overdue. Robert worked late Mon/Tue, so it ended up being nice to have lots of social outings to fill up the time.
We touched on potty training this week (again). Lydia is very interested in her potty, very interested in following me into the bathroom, very interested in panties, etc, etc, etc. She is ready. I am ready to get started with this production. Last week I bought her some feel and learn pull ups that get cool when they pee in them. I put the “Dora Panties” on her and decided that we would start. Unfortunately, the panties did not fare well with Lydia’s sensitive skin, and she broke out in a rash after about 10 minutes of wearing them. I got online and read that many other people have had this same problem. So, DO NOT buy feel and learn pull ups! Lydia really didn’t want to have anything to do with panties for a few days. However, her interest was reignited when I bought her some toddler panties from walmart on Monday. I also bought vinyl panty covers for her so I don’t have to worry about her peeing on the new couch. She was VERY excited about wearing panties so we went through the whole discussion again of panties, blah, blah, blah, and tried to sit her on the potty every little bit. So she peed in the panties, and wanted them OFF. She wanted her diapers back. Fast forward to the next day, she got up and I asked her if she wanted to sit on the potty. She said yes, so we went. She sat, I read her a book, same old, same old, and then she started crying for her diaper. I could tell when I was putting the diaper on her that she was holding it, and was waiting for the diaper to pee. I didn’t push the issue, but I will be pulling out the bait (i.e. Backyardigans puffy stickers) when we get back from NC. Advice, please. Send to my email.
Which takes me to the next topic, our trip to NC! We are leaving Wednesday for two glorious weeks. Yahhhoooo! Robert will be joining us right before Easter and we’ll be able to go to CTK for Easter, hooray! My sister is coming into town today (she is on the plane right now), we are SO EXCITED to have her here, and I am very happy that she will be flying back with us. She’s looking at her photo albums, brushing up on who everyone is, so I’ll be interested to see who she can call by name when we get there. She is looking at Dylan’s picture right now. I’m going to get her some new snapfish pictures for her photo album for the airplane so we’ll have the most recent.

The Bumbo

We bought Miles a little chair called a Bumbo baby sitter – it is a cushy little chair that allows a baby who can’t sit up by themself to sit upright by themselves and to look around. So far he loves it.
So fast forward to this morning. We didn’t want a repeat of two weeks ago’s diaper monstrosity at church, and since the timing was right for part II, Robert and Miles stayed home from church (lucky that they did, Sunday morning seems to be prime time for Miles). When Lydia and I walked in the door, this is what we found:

And not to ignore our beautiful daughter, here she is looking just like her daddy.

I haven’t been posting, it’s been kind of a week. Lydia went to school Mon/Wed. Miles and I hung out, did some grocery shopping, the usual. Tuesday, we went to the mall and played at the play area and had lunch. Last night, Lydia got sick and started throwing up around 10:30. I am almost positive that it was food poisoning from some lunchmeat. She ran a fever all day today and barely drank anything (and you know how thirsty she is!). Luckily, Robert worked from home today, so I had some much needed moral support. Lydia ended up taking a good long nap, and she felt better this afternoon. I ended up getting a very last minute dr. appt., and they told me to watch her for dehydration, and that it sounded like food poisoning. We went to the store and got some new cups to make drinking water more exciting, some gatorade, which she didn’t drink, and some jello that she showed absolutely no interest. So hopefully she’ll sleep it off tonight and wake up nice and thirsty tomorrow.
Look how long I am!

Like I’ve said several times, we’ve had phenomenal weather this week. It has really been gorgeous. Today I picked up a sand box I had bought off of craigslist and we went to Home Depot and got 500 lbs of sand (that was interesting), and it’s all set up now! She’s trying it out this morning.
Here is Lydia earning her keep. Tell me why they don’t make child sized vacuum cleaners that actually work?
Notice the bling.
