Lydia’s new kicks
So she looks like she’s been partying a little, but this was the only picture I got and I told mom I would put it up on the blog.

Shoes courtesy of Gray, he was a little too cool for the crocs so he donated them to the “Lydia only has one pair of shoes that fit” fund.
And other fun stuff…

The Fam

It’s been a grrrreat weekend. Very relaxing. I have been able to nap and catch up on everything. Lydia and Miles have been having a great time with Nina and Papa.
We had a dust storm yesterday, one more uniquity that we were able to experience during our time in the land of Texas. The sky was hazy and kind of pink, it was verrrry eerie. There were tons of flights cancelled because the wind was gusting up to 60mph, and was pretty consistently blowing around 30-40mph. Dad was supposed to fly out this morning to go to New Orleans. When he got to the airport (around 5am), his flight had been cancelled. So he rented a car and drove to New Orleans.
Today it is nice and the wind isn’t really blowing, so we just went to the playground. Lydia fooled us and hung out in her room for a few hours, but we don’t think she really slept at all. So we have one grumpy toddler on our hands. Miles is happy, but hasn’t pooped in a few days… so he is very gassy. This is the 2nd time this has happened, but by definition he isn’t “constipated”. So we’re waiting for the big one.

My kids are stinking cute
Yesterday Lydia, Miles and I went to a park in Allen, which was about 15 minutes from us. It was great fun, and there was even a lake with ducks. Today Lydia went to school and Mom let me take a long, luxurious nap. Consequently, Miles took a corresponding long, luxurious nap. So mom didn’t get to hang out with Miles but she did get to fold my clothes. It is wonderful having parents in town.
Here are some pictures of the kiddos.

Tuesday is for American Idol
It’s true, God is Good. We had a great weekend – and Robert was home on Monday with us for President’s day. We were all able to recover, and everyone is feeling much better now. Lydia’s sinus infection is almost completely cleared up, and she has started sleeping MUCH better. Miles is doing great too, his cold is almost cleared up. I am feeling great since everyone is sleeping well and I am on antibiotics. Mom and dad are both coming into town this week, Dad will be in for business starting tomorrow, and Mom is coming in to visit on Thursday. I am SO EXCITED!
On Friday, Robert brought home girl scout cookies he had bought from someone at work. He told Lydia she could have ONE cookie, she started walking around saying, “One cookie! One cookie!”.

Yesterday I was cooking dinner and Lydia was whining a little bit because she wanted to eat. Robert told her, “you can have some cheese, or you can have nothing”. Lydia came up to me and started whining, “nothing! nothing! nothing!”. It was so funny, she just doesn’t even know what she’s whining about sometimes.
Here are some cute pictures I took today.

Round 2
Ayeayeaye. Well Lydia started running the fever on Sunday. I was not having an especially brilliant day, as I had poured myself a cup of diet coke, taken the empty bottle out to the recycle bin and then forgotten where I had put the coke. Turns out I had poured it into one of Lydia’s cups. So that’s your preface. That night I decided to give Lydia some night-time cold medicine because she barely slept all weekend. This was the same night-time cold medicine I had been holding off on to give a test run in case it made her wild. Well, to make a long story short, it DID, in fact, make her wild. Not immediately, though, I went to bed about 10:00 and about 10:30 she woke up and was ready to go. Initially we let her sit in her room and read books while we dozed in our room (with the door open so we could see her). She went downstairs, turned on the lights and was playing when I finally got out of the bed around 12:00. I tried to take it down a notch and we watched a few episodes of The Backyardigans (four episodes, to be exact). So I guess this took us to around 2:15 or so. We went upstairs and read a story, and I was hoping that at this point she’d be ready to call it a night. Ha! Hardly! She fought me on the bed thing (keep in mind she’s in a big girl bed) until 4:00 when she finally petered out. It was awful. AWFUL!
Monday I ended up sending her to school and she came home with a nasty nose. So I watched her and decided to make a dr. appt. for her Tues. Turns out she has a sinus infection because of her never ending cold that she’s had for the last 3 weeks. At least it was something diagnosable and they gave us medicine. Miles is fighting the same new cold (I suspect) and unfortunately, I feel like I could be getting it too. I also have mastitis, which is just the icing on the cake. I have been fighting a fever for the last 12 hours or so with ibuprofen and I started antibiotics last night. It’s still absolutely awful, though. I want my mommy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In other news, please continue to pray for Sue Hoying and family. They find out the final diagnosis, treatments, and prognosis late this afternoon, which is sure to be very difficult. They found out that the cancer has spread to her lungs and liver, and are concerned because of how fast it has grown.
Prayer Request
Please take a second to say a quick prayer for Sue Hoying, who is the mom of one of my best friends, Jessie Hoying Gonzalez. She has a grapefruit sized tumor in her abdomen and is very sick. If this turns out to be cancer, which the doctor thinks it is, it is most likely a quick growing type. She was supposed to have surgery today to remove the tumor, but it was postponed. They should know more by Wednesday. Please also keep their family in your prayers, I know this is very difficult for them – they are a very special family.
Thanks!
Smiles, cont.
This has been a good weekend for me, Robert has let me nap a lot, which has helped me feel a little more together. Lydia was running a fever this morning so she stayed home with daddy while Miles and I went to Sunday School. They were both getting stir crazy this afternoon so they went to the mall to get some shoes for Daddy. Hopefully this pair will be a little less geriatric looking than the last pair (sorry, honey). Robert’s sense of style has advanced by leaps and bounds over the last few months, so I am confident he will get a hot pair.
Miles smiled over and over again yesterday, I guess he made the connection. He did it for Daddy today too. Yay for smiles!
I am starting a rotation diet to see if Miles is having troubles with something I’m eating. His rash is all over his head, scalp, neck and the top of his back. From my trusty Dr. Sears, this indicates food allergy, and is not just baby acne and cradle cap. Lydia had the same thing and when I elminated dairy, it went away. I suspect it could be either wheat or dairy with Miles. I am trying wheat first because he seemed to have a lot of gastrointestinal distress as well as swollen eyes after two different days when I ate a lot of wheaty stuff. So we’ll see. He seems to be doing really well today after a rough day yesterday (I ate pizza on Friday night). If he has any flare ups with this, I’ll try dairy and see if that’s the culprit. So the smile picture shows his rough face. He is still the most beautiful baby boy ever to me.
today’s special
Wednesday, Lydia went to school and I went to my doctor’s appointment. Have I told you before that I just love Dr. Eisenberg and his staff? They are too awesome. So Miles hung out with Carla, his assistant, while I had my appointment, and then Miles got some snuggles from the man himself.

Yesterday we went over to play with Christy, Gray and Parker. Lydia has been getting up at the crack of dawn (5:30) since she gained the newfound freedom of a big girl bed, not to mention that she’s been going to bed later because of her attempts to get out of bed, so she has been super tired this week. So we didn’t stay long because she went into naughty mode soon after we walked in.
Today Lydia went to school and I tried to take a nap, but Miles really doesn’t like anyone to get naps around here. I got a little rest and then got up. After we picked Lydia up from school, Kerri and Nathan came over to visit for a little while. It was wonderful to see them! It seems that everyone in Dallas is getting a little stir-crazy because of this bad weather we’ve been having. It’s supposed to rain through the weekend, and hopefully we’ll have some good weather next week.
Here’s a picture of a little Lydia/Mommy silliness.
