Indoor play
I just caught Lydia putting her baby into timeout – our as she said it “ti out”. She found some reindeer antlers and put them on for a split second. She is not so good at posing yet.

If you could hand me that fork, I could go ahead and eat my words
Nothing to freak out about, but it still happened… The roads are a wreck b/c there are so many highways that intersect, and therefore ginormous bridges. Thank goodness Robert is smart and he takes the train!

News Flash!
There is a *Winter Storm Warning* in effect for Dallas tomorrow. It was 80 yesterday, 75 today and is going to be 35 tomorrow. If you can even believe that. I can’t, I’m having a hard time believing it could ever be that cold here, although the people in my water aerobics class have told me that it really does get that cold here. The proof is in the pudding is what I say.
Good news!
Baby boy is head down now! He had been head up at the last appointment, and I would have never guessed that he had turned based on the jabs he’s been giving me in weird places. Hopefully he will stay put, and everything will be smooth sailing from here! I talked to a woman at the dr’s office today who said that she was induced a few weeks ago w/ her first child, and it went very quickly, so hopefully that will be the case w/ me as well, especially since it’s the 2nd child! I had Braxton Hicks contractions for over an hour and a half last night. I could tell they were not real, so I wasn’t worried, but it seems like my body is getting geared up for the real deal (or at least I like to tell myself that!).
O Christmas Tree
We put up our Christmas tree today. Lydia finally got some chalk for her new easel, so she played on that while I decorated. It’s exciting to get ready for the holidays!

Happy Black Friday
I missed shopping with the GNP ladies today, but I didn’t mind the staying in bed until 7 this morning! We got up and had breakfast downstairs, and then went to see the Alamo. It was okay, but we didn’t get much cooperation from Lydia. We didn’t stay long – but we can now say that we’ve done it.
This is a picture of Lydia when we got back to the hotel – she was having a “nack” and then went to bed. You can kind of get a feel for her mood from the expression on her face…

We came back to the hotel for a nap, and then went out to the Riverwalk for lunch. It was great fun to watch the boats go by, and to look at the birds. Lydia got a grilled cheese sandwich (which was served on Texas Toast, of course, and with star shaped tater tots…).

We took a boat ride down the river, which was great – and fulfilled Lydia’s desire to ride on a boat. She learned pretty much everything we cared to know about San Antonio, and had some of our questions answered (how deep IS the Riverwalk? It’s 3-5 feet, do people ever fall in? Yes, especially on the weekends – if you fall in, just stand up). We made our final stop at the absolutely mobbed Rivercenter Mall. There was a Mexican band playing there, so we got some ice cream and listened for a little while. Unfortunately, Lydia’s diaper leaked all over her jeans, so we had to remove her pants because they were wet. She still felt spunky enough to do a little dancing with the band.

Zoo

We went to the zoo this afternoon which was great fun for Lydia. She lasted almost 2 hours there before she started to lose it. She really liked the zebras – she said “hi bebras!”, and Robert and I liked the Gazelles because they kind of remind us of Prancer. We came back to the hotel this afternoon and she watched a video of hers while Daddy watched the Cowboys game (it’s actually still on). We’re going to have to work hard to keep Lydia up past 6:00 tonight – she is absolutely exhausted.
Tomorrow we’re going to the Alamo which is being confused by Lydia with “Melmo” – we are hoping there’s not too much disappointment tomorrow. We’re also going to take a Riverwalk boat ride and go to the Rivercenter mall (if we are feeling brave).

Happy Turkey Day!
We made it to San Antonio in about 6 1/2 hours. I think it usually takes about 4 1/2-5 but traffic was horrible. We laughed about it because of all of the years we don’t HAVE to travel, we took the longest trip we’ve ever taken. Luckily, it seems like San Antonio will be worth the trip. We had gotten a handicapped suite at a steal, so we have two rooms and a TON of extra space. We also have a full kitchen, so we brought a bunch of food and snacks. That will come in handy today since apparently every hotel/resturant is booked up, so we have virtually no chance of getting a Thanksgiving meal here. Our hotel does an evening happy hour with free drinks and food, and tonight they’re having turkey, so we won’t go completely without turkey.

Happy Thanksgiving plus!
Not only did we celebrate Lydia’s 2nd birthday this week, but Robert and I celebrated our 5th anniversary on Friday. Robert got me some beautiful roses, and sent a very heartfelt ecard. He also brought home a paper card, but didn’t sign it. This was the second year in a row that I got an unsigned anniversary card. And they say that engineers pay attention to details! I am going to have to start giving them back to him the following year. I think it’s a riot.
Last night we went to Del Frisco’s in Dallas for a special anniversary dinner. It was fantastic. We felt like we got a taste of North Dallas with the valet parking and bathroom attendants.
We decided that since we’re going to be out of town for Thanksgiving, and since Robert and I both enjoy certain Thanksgiving dishes, that we would make our own Thanksgiving dinner this afternoon. Robert smoked a turkey on the grill and made gravy. I made sweet potato souffle, stuffing, rice and pumpkin pie. It was magnificent. We haven’t started on the pumpkin pie, but based on the way it smelled, it will be fantastic.

Lydia has not been feeling well this week, we think either because of her Hepatitis A shot, or because 4 teeth were coming through. She is feeling better now, but is still whiny

and stubborn. I guess that’s typical.

Our baby is 2!
Today is Lydia’s 2nd birthday. We’ve stayed close to home – our new phone was *finally* installed, as well as our Internet. We can stop stealing wireless from our neighbors because we have our own now! Lydia had her 2 year appt. today and is in the 75th percentile for head circumfrence, height and weight. She was 30lbs and 34 inches tall. She also got a hepatitis A shot, which is a requirement in the Southwestern states. Who knew!?
Tonight Robert was able to leave work a little early and came home to have cake and presents with Lydia. It has certainly been a big birthday for Lydia. She loved her dog cake, and luckily didn’t eat too much (it was very icing rich!). She got a bath toy as one of her gifts, so she is in the bath playing now. Thanks to everyone who has helped make Lydia’s day special!
