The comings and goings of the fab four

Weekend II

I wrote a long post yesterday and blogger crashed right about the time I was trying to upload. Go figure. Anyhoo…

We had a nice weekend. Lydia and I went to one of the glitzier Dallas malls, The Galleria, with our meetup friends on Friday. We played at the play area, and chatted a little. We also took Lydia’s puppy out for a walk, which is her new favorite thing. On Saturday morning there was a cat out in our yard that had escaped from someone’s house. It was very sweet and loved rubbing up against Lydia. Of course she loved the cat too. That evening, Lydia got to go out for ice cream with Daddy (so she could stay up an extra hour for daylight savings time!)

Sunday we went to Sunday School, and then came home. Robert mulched the yard and cut the grass so we no longer have the worst yard in the neighborhood. Hooray! Lydia got to blow some bubbles in the back yard, and figured out how to work the bubble gun all by herself!

Today I went to the doctor, and baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead of schedule, but has remained consistent at this size since about 20 weeks. He is only in the 57th percentile for size, so it doesn’t seem that measuring big really makes much of a difference. His heart sounded good, and I was not dilated at all, even with all of the contractions I’ve been having. The dr. gave me the ok to go to NC next week, and to San Antonio for Thanksgiving, so that’s good news.

And blogger is acting up as usual, and won’t let me load any pictures.

Sick

Lydia has been sick with a nasty cold the last two days. Her nose has been running clear, though, and from what I can tell, she hasn’t had a fever (I left my ear thermometer in NC, so I haven’t been checking it as frequently), so I’m not worried about an ear infection right now. I am contemplating taking her to the doctor tomorrow to make sure we’re not headed in that direction over the weekend, though. Neither of us are too keen on being cooped up in the house, though, I think we’re both a little stir crazy. Robert has had someone important in town for work for the last 2 days, so he has had to work late the last two days. Glad that tomorrow is Friday!

In other news, Robert was recognized for a great job on one of his recent/current projects this past week. Hopefully if he continues to do great work, they’ll get us out of Texas for the next rotation, we’re just praying for east coast… anything will feel close after this!

Lydia and I bought a carseat cover for baby this past weekend, and Lydia has gained a renewed interest in the carseat this week.

Pumpkin Patch

This afternoon we took Lydia to Flower Mound, which is about 30 minutes southwest of us, to the Flower Mound Pumpkin Patch. Since the weather was in the low 60’s today, it was a perfect day to enjoy some Fall festivities – there were HUNDREDS of people there! The patch was huge with tons of pumpkins, a maze made of bales of hay, character cutouts, moon bouncers and hayrides. It was out of control! They had several different animals that Lydia enjoyed looking at, and stalls of different kinds of food. We didn’t end up going to the TX State Fair, but felt like we got a taste of it by going to this pumpkin patch. Unfortunately, Lydia hadn’t taken a nap today because we got home from church so late, so we couldn’t stay long. However, we did have a good time and snapped a few pictures.

We did a little cleaning today. Lydia wasn’t in the mood to wear a shirt, so she had taken hers off… I couldn’t resist snapping her picture.

3’s a charm

I had to post this picture of Lydia sitting in the crib ‘o crap. Please keep in mind that all of this stuff *was* in a box, neatly folded, but Lydia pulled it all out and was wrapping herself in it. She has also smashed down the bumpers and covered up with the quilt many times already. What matters is that she and the sheep were having a grand time.

And the 28 week baby update…

I went to the dr. today for my glucose screening (keep your fingers crossed, but I’m not really optimistic) and an ultrasound in addition to the regular visit. They didn’t have the 3D ultrasound machine, which was a little disappointing. We will see his sweet face soon enough (10 weeks from Friday, but who’s counting). He’s still definitely a boy, which made Robert very happy. He is almost 3 pounds at this point, which the ultrasound technician said is normal, the doctor said is big. He’s about 14 inches long, and is head down. They were able to measure the head, check the femur, and could pretty much rule out a cleft palate. The heart looked great, and everything else looked great. I will go back in 2 weeks, and they’ll check my cervix to see if there’s any dilation (not ready to start that, but okay). He was active during the ultrasound, and got the hiccups at one point. Lydia got the hiccups 4-5 times a day most days, which was always very reassuring. They say that it means they’re starting to learn how to breathe on their own. This little guy has been getting them once a day or so that I’ve noticed. It is getting a lot more noticeable, though. The doctor also told me that I’ve “put on some weight since the last appt”. Thanks for noticing, doc. It didn’t bother me initially, but after the day I’ve had, I really would love to tell him that he could stick it somewhere. But maybe I’ll be in a better mood tomorrow morning.
