The comings and goings of the fab four

Again, I couldn’t have set this up if I tried.

There’s good news – Lydia is enjoying brushing her teeth again. She has been very reluctant to get anything with bristles close to her mouth for the last few weeks, but she seems to be back to enjoying chewing on a toothbrush in her leisure time. I am going to take this as a sign that those horrid eye teeth, which have been the bane of my existence for about two months, might have actually made some progress (and hopefully there are little spikes sticking out as we speak).

In other news, Lydia did something that I have read is very toddler-esque last night. We put her down but put a thin blanket over her because the windows were open, but it hadn’t yet cooled off upstairs. So she started crying a few minutes later because we had put the *wrong* blanket over her. She wanted her (heavier) quilt on top. The girl gets what she wants. Apparently a lot of times it happens with eating utensils – they will only eat out of a red or blue or whatever preferred color plate/bowl, etc.

Speaking of sleep, here are two pictures of Lydia I snapped yesterday during her nap. Notice anything odd about the pictures? Most kids love to snuggle up with a blanket, a stuffed animal, or something else of the stuffed or cuddly variety. Not my child, she snuggles up with her sippy cup. And that’s not just a fluke, it’s her “thing”.

Lydia and I just got back from EncouraGym, which has open play for toddlers and young children on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. We went with our meetup group, so we got to see a few people that we hung out with on Tuesday at the playgroup. Here are a few pictures of Lydia playing. She loves the slide (“side”). She had fun and wore herself out, earlier than I had hoped. We’re going to lunch with Gray and Christy today, so hopefully she’ll sleep a while and feel refreshed when she gets up!

Curious George, that is. Lydia has taken a fancy to Curious George. At this moment, she is laying in my maternity pillow eating Cracklin Oat Bran and having a few sips off of the sippy cup watching George on TV. I was even able to leave the room without her pitching a fit. Maybe I can DVR a few – it will be a nice change from the Backyardigans.
