This morning we got up and went to early church, and then to Nana and Papa’s for an Easter lunch with Emkat and Grandpa Dupree. We tried to have an egg hunt with Lydia using real eggs for the first round. She took them out of the basket, and threw them (which is a very popular thing to do these days). Each of the two dogs got an egg, and ate them, shell and all. So we decided to try the plastic eggs. Instead of putting the plastic eggs in her basket, she would take each egg and place it in front of a dog, in hopes that they would eat it. The dogs weren’t too keen on the plastic eggs…. The bottom of the basket saw very few eggs today! Maybe next year.
We also visited with the Hughes/Shirley/Robinson clan. I used to babysit for all of them, and now the kids are all grown up. Lydia loved Cameron, who is the oldest (now 15). Alex (7) was also very sweet to Lydia – he entertained her by dancing, jumping around and hugging her for quite a while. She LOVED it and was laughing the whole time. I guess it was nice for Lydia to be entertained for a while instead of being the entertainment for us!

We have had a very nice long weekend. We had a yard sale on Saturday, and then went to my cousin Sagan’s 4th birthday party that afternoon. Lydia had fun playing with Bodhi, who is 3 months older than her. Bodhi’s cousin Emmy was also there, and she is just 2 weeks older than Lydia. Bodhi and Sagan have a ton of outside toys and a big backyard, so they had a great time playing together.

We’re happy to be home, and have enjoyed the weekend thus far. Yesterday, Phil, Stacey and Carter came to visit. They’re in town for an MBA weekend, but came over and hung out yesterday afternoon and we ordered Chili’s takeout for dinner. Carter and Lydia had a great time playing.
Today we just hung around home and readjusted. We packed some boxes, and Robert hit some golf balls. The usual Saturday kind of stuff…

Today we slept until about 9:30 and went down to breakfast. We wanted to go to IKEA in the next town over, so we walked to the parking deck, and of course, it was closed up tight. We seem to always have trouble with these parking decks! It was only 11 at that time, so we thought maybe it would open at 12. We went to the grocery store and got some snacks and drinks and came back to the hotel. We asked the lady at the front desk about the parking deck, and she said you have to have a key to open it. Of course when we got there with the key, it was open. No problem – we went to IKEA and to some of the stores around there. It was amazing how expensive everything was. We saw a pair of Nike running shoes for around $175. I drove back from IKEA and ran the car into the snow. It imprinted our license plate… Oh yeah, it is snowing a ton again today…

Today we went to Gavle (yav-luh) to visit with Johan and Marie. We went to lunch and walked around the city. It is absolutely breathtaking. Here are some pictures, but they don’t even begin to touch how beautiful it is.

This is old Gavle, the only part of the city that didn’t burn in the 1800’s.
The view from Johan and Marie’s apartment (except their apartment is 4 floors up).
